Conflict Minerals
On August 22, 2012, the final rule regarding sourcing of conflict minerals under Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (“the Dodd-Frank Act”) was approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”). The rule focuses on the Democratic Republic of Congo and the nine surrounding countries (“Covered Countries”) with vast mineral wealth. Tempo recognizes that, for many years, armed groups have fought to control mines within the Covered Countries and smuggle minerals out of the region, the proceeds of which are used to finance conflict and perpetuate criminal behavior, and potentially contribute to human rights abuses and environmental damage within the region.
Tempo is committed to provide product to its customers that is conflict free. Similarly, Tempo expects its suppliers to procure 3TG Minerals only from conflict free sources. Tempo is engaging in rigorous due diligence efforts designed to verify — whenever possible — the source of 3TG Minerals used in Tempo products. At this time, Tempo uses the standard EICC/GeSI template to survey its suppliers, which includes use of the Conflict Free Smelter list. Tempo encourages its suppliers to do the same.
